My contribution to the Dead Silence movie poster contest. Tried my best to keep it as simple as possible, thus not sacrificing much, if any quality. Wanted the poster to be mostly black to work as dead space. I wanted it to look like the doll was in the middle of a dark area and he was all you could see.. which would hopefully make it a little creepy.
edit *** some revisions have been made. (March 12th)
I agree about your thoughts behind this poster, often simplicity is what draws the eye, rather than just clutter. I would have personally faded the edge of the image of the doll into the black space, as the faint red line can give the impression that you just cut and paste. Otherwise one of the best so far from what I can tell
thank you very much. thanks also for pointing out the blending. i ran upstairs and went on my sisters computer to see what you were talking about because i didn't really see it on my computer. sure enough i saw exactly what you were saying. its because my computer monitor is too dark and the fine color changes arn't visable. take a look at it now and tell me if it is any better. i really appreciate your help and thanks again.
I like it, but in my opinion, it should just be the doll head and hand, fading to black. On my monitor I can see a brown rectangle around the head and hand, and it sort of looks like a cut and paste job. Probably just my super cool new monitor though...
i'm gonna edit it because i can see it with this monitor that i am on right now. i gotta get one like yours cause it kills me when things like this happen.
I know exactly how you feel. The ones at school are terrible! I'd make something, look at it at home, and it was hideous!
I bought a Samsung 226BW 22" Widescreen LCD over the weekend, and so far, it has been awesome! I would highly recommend it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
